Burping?

DD is EBF and has taken a bottle twice and rarely will take a paci...I do have oversupply and a fast letdown also. She's about 50/50 when it comes to burping but if she doesn't she will vomit, not spit up (I had one of those kids and this is emptying her belly and wanting more after).  That happens about every few days thank goodness, but I find her burping more and more when we are just hanging out. And they are big, college frat boy burps.  Several in a row, on hour after eating, after she's been sleeping for three hours, ect...no real rhyme or reason. Is this normal to burp that much?

Re: Burping?

  • I have a really fast and forceful letdown and Jovanni gives me one good burp usually but if I lay him down then pick him up later I will get 2 more sometimes. I think it's like the motion or position?

  • As they get older they can burp themselves - not just when you are patting them - because the can move and adjust themselves.  This is normal.

  • I catch my fast let down in a cloth, and E still burps, a lot.  It seems worse at night.  I literally have to burp him for 20 mins.  I get ONE good one right away, but theres always more.  And if I dont take the time to burp him, he will fall back asleep and wake up 30 mins later moaning and groaning until I burp him or he pukes.  Its easier just to get it all out at once.

I usually feed him, burp him, change him, feed more, burp more, go pee, come back and burp more, then nurse to sleep.  Thankfully he only wakes up once per night, or else we'd never sleep!
