Guanfacine for Hyperactivity
Yesterday our Dev Ped gave a script for Guanfacine for our 3 year old dd. I'm one that has a medical/pharmacy background so I understand the drug. But my mommy part of me worries. Anyone else have experience with your child on this? Please tell me the good the bad and the ugly.

Ds1 started on tenex a few months before he turned 5, and was on that or intuniv for a little over a year. His dx is ASD, but we were looking to target his impulsivity, especially around aggression. He was sleepy for the first few days whenever we had to adjust his dose, but other than that, I saw no ill-effects. It did seem to help temper his activity level a bit, but it wasn't a game-changer for him. That being said, he is now back on Intuniv as part of a cocktail of meds, so I do think it to be helpful.
