A 2nd tri question I never considered

Will going to the gun range while pregnant hurt my baby's hearing?

https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/71311772.aspx

Isn't that what these are for?

Also, I am kind of shocked at how many women in 2nd tri are "avid shooters".

Right?  I did not see that coming either.  Although, I can see how it would be an issue for the military moms on the board.

I was just going to say that - I've never owned a gun and that whole post is completely alien to me.

  • FWIW, I am good friends with an audiologist and she said that yes- actually, that CAN have an effect on the baby's hearing. I had asked her about attending a concert (The Wall) when i was 37 weeks, and she said that was fine but mentioned what would hurt a fetus' ears.

I'm staying away from the gun toting preglies. I know that much.

    Hormones + guns= chaos.

I stopped going to the range when I was pregnant.  I was more concerned with the lead exposure from ammo than I was the sound.  And I shot at a state of the art range when it came to air purification.

Bad idea, in my avid shooting opinion.  Stick out tongue

DH wanted me to go to the range with him when I was pregnant.  I declined after we thought about the above reasons.

And I did go to a concert, but I can't remember how far along I was, and I didn't even think of it until halfway through.

    I can't relate to wanting to be all pregly and shooting guns, but I wonder if standing too close to speakers at a concert is a concern?Hmmmm.nbsp;

I stood beside the speakers when we saw Male strippers when I was pregnant. Ike was dancing to Lady Gaga for some of it but he slept most of the time. I think it just gave him his affinity for loud music.

    Hmmmm.

Not unless you are doing it like every day. All going to loud concerts while in utero did to my kid was make him like awesome music.

I went to a few concerts when I was pregly. The last one I attended I was 30 something weeks pregnant. It was an outdoor venue so I didn't sweat it.

Well, actually I did sweat. It was like July or August and hot as shiit.

And that was the hottest summer in the history of hot summers!  HOT, I TELL YOU!

I did an outdoor concert as well and was not worried about the noise...just all the drunk azzholes that kept falling all around me.....it's just DMB get it together people!

I will add that the lawn seats were on a hill....I can see how that might be a little tricky.

I shot once, outdoors, during my pregnancy.  It was Thanksgiving at my Mom's.  DH (a cop) had just been issued his new AR-15.  After dinner, we set up a few targets in a field and popped off a few rounds.  We joked about starting a new holiday tradition.  Stick out tongue

I can say that I wouldn't have done it indoors and I only fired a few rounds myself.  I stepped far aside to watch of couple of the others shoot, then I went back inside.
