Pregnant after 35

big time scared

So it has been a while since I posted my intro according to last period Im 6 weeks should have been able to see heartbeat on ultrasound but that was not the case my appt. Since then I have been bleeding been put on bedrest. Blood test show hcg levels rising but with a history of miscarriage berween each live birth I'm scared that its happening again.

Re: big time scared

  • Hi Bonnie,

So sorry you're going through this. 6 weeks is really early to see anything; if your dates are off by even a couple of days, you might not see what you think you should.  That's why a lot of docs won't even do an ultrasound until 7 or 8 weeks.  Are you bleeding heavily and is it red (like full-on AF), or is it more like spotting?  Your blood test results sound promising.  Hang in there, and please keep us updated.

  • I agree with Melissa--at this stage, just a few days can make a big difference in what you see (or don't) on an ultrasound. Don't give up hope just yet. I read that 1/3 of successful pregnancies have some first-tri spotting/bleeding associated with them. I sincerely hope that turns out to be the case for you. Stay strong and please update when you find out more.

  • I'm sorry you didn't get better news but that is so early to have an u/s and see anything like the others said.  I hope you are able to see the hb at your next one.  I know how scary this is, hang in there .
