Memory boxes or other ideas?

Hi girls,

It's been four months since we lost our daughter and for now all of our photos, letters to her, ornaments etc. are sitting in a drawer in my closet. I want to do something special with them all and put everything in a box or some kind of scrapbook so I can have it all together. Does anyone have any ideas for me? Is there a website that does these types of memory boxes? Thanks as always.

I have found two places. A Place to Remember is an online site that has a nice square memory box, about 9x9x5. It's 35, so not too bad. Also, Memories Unlimited, Inc is the company that provides us with memory boxes at the hospital. If you email them, they will send you the sizes they have available. The email is on the website, just google them.

So sorry for your loss. I hope you find something perfect for your perfect baby.

There are facebook pages (I start at facebook.com/utpail *united through pregnancy and infant loss*) I know of with other loss mommas who make them and also etsy shops. Or you could make your own. Craft stores have cardboard and wooden boxes that would be appropriate, and you could decorate them how you choose.

We were given a memory box at the hospital (i still haven't opened it), and I love/hate it.  I love that I have a small thing to keep special items in, but hate that I need it.

I think if you are crafty, making a box is a great idea.  We were given a handmade card box for our wedding, and it is very beautiful.  I keep all the mementos from the wedding in it.  They sell "kits" to make boxes at craft stores, I think you could do something really special.

We are on the lookout for an antique chest to refinish, as we have a lot of her stuff we want to keep [so more of a hope chest rather than a box]. My step grandfather is a woodworker of sorts, so I'm hoping he will be able to help refinish it and inscribe her name and birthdate on the lid. GL with your search.

I love this idea, it sounds like you will have such a special keepsake.

BTW...is that a new tattoo I see in your profile pic?  It's very sweet.

I went on Craigs List and found a great chest for all our stuff...3 months in the hospital it amazing all the stuff we accumulated! Now I just have to paint and decorate it.

A friend from high school - who also experienced a loss right before me - sent me a memory box from Things Remembered. I was able to put pictures in a glass portion on top of the box, and the inside was more than big enough to hold the memories I have of Devon. That might be a place to look, too, if you haven't considered it. I love the box I got.

Just a thought Michaels has some really pretty unfinished boxes you could finish and make a beautiful memory box for your baby girl. We are going to make one for our Sydney eventually.

I have made Memory boxes for a few of my friends - I would be happy to make one for you! I don't like making Memory boxes for anyone, because of the reason for them, but at the same time I love making them, and I put a lot of love into them. You can private message me if you're interested.

You ladies are amazing! I really appreciate all of these ideas. I will look into them and let you know what I end up doing.

The hospital did give us a box with their logo on it and our funeral home gave us an ornament with their logo and our daughter's name on them. Those are the absolute last things I want to remember my baby girl by so this memory box will be special just for her :
