All of a sudden they have an opinion?!

Until about a week ago my twins would eat anything I fed them.  Peas, green beans, carrots, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, bananas, chicken, turkey...you get it.  I made it, they ate it (I make all their veggies and meats fresh but their fruits are Gerber).  All of a sudden they are turning their sweet little noses up at just about every veggie I put in front of them and they won't touch meat if it doesn't have a fruit in it (like sweet potatoes & apples) What. The. Heck?

I guess they've decided they have an opinion now.  I just don't get it, though.  First it was peas (and it's not just one of them...it's both).  I tasted them and they taste fine, not too warm, not too cool.  Next day we did butternut squash (which is one of their FAVES) and same thing.  Next it was green beans.  They still eat fruit like it's going out of style and they'll still tolerate carrots and sweet potatoes, but I don't understand what gives.  I can see one of them deciding they don't like something, but both of them with multiple veggies on the same day?

Any thoughts on this? I'm pretty sure my son is teething (considering he's kept me up ALL night and my alarm clock goes off in 10 minutes, he's drooling like crazy and chewing everything in sight), so I guess that could explain his odd behavior, but my daughter is showing no real signs of teething at the moment.

Oh, as a last ditch effort I also tried some Gerber veggies and they can't stand ANY of those.  They just look at me like I've SERIOUSLY lost my mind when I give them veggies I didn't make myself.

Anyone else experiencing this?  (BTW, sorry if this is a duplicate post.  I scrolled back and bit and didn't see anything, but I've been MIA for a while, so it's possible I missed it).

TIA!

  • Kids go though phases I'm sorry to say! Maybe try offering veggies not purreed just steamed and sliced or chunked. My lo hates pureed veggies but will eat the smashed roughly or chunked.

My two year old always ate EVERYTHING until he turned two now he's picky. It's one of the only things kids can control so when they want to be independent they do it though refusing foods sometimes.
