Ammonia

Ok, so my dipes smell fine out of the wash and only some of them stink like ammonia after DS pees on them. It is mostly my prefolds that stink.  His wet bag burns my nose by wash day (every other day)  Should I strip my dipes?  I have never had this happen before. I also have a front load HE washer does this change the process?  Do I need to go and buy something special to get rid of the ammonia?  Thanks for any advice you have.

I have an HE front loader and very hard water.  I did a Funk Rock Soak  overnight rinsed them like crazy and then did a RLR strip and rinsed like crazy then I changed my wash routine and haven't had any issues since (4 months past strip). I also turn my wet bag inside out to wash and then hang to dry, I have two and wash one of them with every diaper load. 

 New Wash Routine:

cold rinse no spin

quick wash with extra rinse warm 1 tbsp Funk Rock (every other wash or so)

power wash (long wash) with extra rinse warm (I found hot was fading some of my fitted prints) 1 heaping tbsp Hard Rock in dispenser and 1 tsp Calgon in the drum
