I keep hearing that if I am taking fenugreek, I should take enough that I taste and/or smell like maple syrup. I've also heard that if you overdo it you can have some gastrointestinal upset. How much is too much? I have been taking 4 pills, plus goat's rue, 4x a day for quite some time now with little to no increase to my supply. I have had no maple syrup taste, but no stomachache either. I'm hesitant to up the amount, as what I am taking seems to be already way higher than normal. Is there anybody fenugreek just didn't work for? What did you do instead? I am making sure I'm eating well and drinking lots of water.
Re: Fenugreek and the 'maple syrup' smell/taste
I agree with AmyG about getting the freshest possible.
But, some people's bodies don't react as well to galactagogues. Here's a Kellymom article. You can also look on kellymom for more info on just fenugreek too.
