Postpartum gas

Anyone have uncontrollable gas since they had LO? It has been four weeks and I just started having a lot of gas last week. Like all day and night, it is embarrassing. The odd thing is it is just air, like most of the time there is no smell (TMI I know). I figure it is just everything getting back to normal but am not sure?

Did you have a c-section by any chance? My Dr told me that vaginal or c-section there's lots of trapped air in there afterwards but it is especially bad with the surgery opening you up and what not.

ETA- not sure why it quoted must have hit that on accident..oops haha

  • Nope, Vaginal birth here. But trapped air makes sense I think. Hopefully it all ends soon!

  • My baby was just born a few days ago but I definitely have had significantly more gas than usual.

  • Section here and I'm almost 3 days pp and I have tons of gas. Not stinky, just air. And I can't push it out because it hurts my incision so I have to try to relax to let it out which I can't do of I'm sitting or laying on my butt. I also have a lot of gas pains which my nurse said was from the section.

  • Lots of gas, trapped gas, gas pains, etc. Stool softeners are your friend.

  • It's because all your intestines are stretching back out after being cramped by the baby for so long. It happens to everyone, whether they admit it or not!
