Babies: 6 - 9 Months

feeding schedule??

I am a first time mom and my 7 month old daughter's caregivers asked if I would be bringing lunch for her soon. They said she has been a bit fussy after she eats but didn't know if it was because she was seeing the other babies eat. She is always very interested when my husband and I are eating. At home on the weekends, she seems content with the amount she is being fed. Maybe she is going through a growth spurt or something but I am lost as to whether she needs to be eating more or not.

Her schedule is this:  (I make all her foods at home so 1 cube means about ice cube size.)

6:3-7 am - 6 oz bottle

10-11 am - 6 oz bottle; 3tbs cereal; 1 cube fruit

1-2 pm - 6 oz bottle

5-6 pm - 6 oz bottle; 2-3 cubes veggies

She only sleeps 20-30 minutes all day at school and then another hour or so once we get home before dinner so sometimes her feeding schedule is interrupted if she is too tired. Bedtime is usually around 7 or 8. She is in the 54% for weight and 98% for height so I don't think she is having any issues growing but I don't want to risk underfeeding her.

Do any of you moms some advice? I appreciate it! :)

Re: feeding schedule??

  • My DS drinks 30 oz of formula a day, plus 2 meals of approximately 2-3 oz. Perhaps you could try sending her a handful of puffs with her lunch? If she's genuinely hungry, a few puffs probably won't fill her up; however, if she's bored, they will occupy her while the other kids are eating. (I get the HappyBaby puffs b/c they don't have sugar and aren't made in China.)

  • I would probably start sending a cube or two for lunch. My son has been on three 2-3 oz. solid servings per day for awhile now and sometimes he'll fuss until I give him more.
