Early Labor with Scheduled C-Section

Has anyone out there gone into labor early with a scheduled C-Section?  I've got about 22 days left and I've been REALLY crampy the last few days.

My 5 year old was 11 days late and ended up being an emergency c-section.

Just wondering if anyone ever goes early?

Re: Early Labor with Scheduled C-Section

  • I'm positive that some people have gone earlier than their scheduled c-section date. I asked my doctor about that, and she said if I do go into labor earlier than the scheduled date, that I would go in and just get the c-section.

  • I did and just went to hospital in labor and had a c-section.  Good luck!
  • This happened to a friend of mine and she went in and had a c-section when the labor started.

I had contractions all night the night before that were getting progressively worse when I had my scheduled date, so my DS wanted to pick his own birthday lol! I had my scheduled c-section, but he would've been there on his own that night if I hadn't. I have a feeling I'll go early with this one, but who knows. I just hope my doctor is in town!

  • My water broke several days before my scheduled c/s. I went to the hospital and had a c/s right away.

  • I went into labor 3 days early.  We had our c-section scheduled for a Thursday and I woke up Monday morning at 2:30, lost my mucus plug, and contractions started about 5 minutes later.  They got progressively worse throughout the morning and we finally went in at 6:45.  My water broke after they checked me to see how far along I was.  Once that happened, they really got things moving.  DH's security badge was made at 7:39 and DD2 was born at 8:40 am!

Part of me did worry that I would go early.  I was just glad my water didn't break at home!  :)

  • My water broke a few days before my scheduled RCS, so I went to the hospital and had my c/s a few hours later, after they tested me to make sure my water had actually broken (I knew it had, but apparently incontinence mistaken for amniotic fluid happens a lot) and assembled a surgical team.  No biggie.  Saved me having to get up at six effing AM for my scheduled surgery.

  • I did, my c/s was scheduled for 39w1d and my water broke at midnight at 38w3d. Once I got to the hospital I started having minor contractions that were irregular. Once things started my timeline from my water breaking to them wheeling me into recovery was 5 hours.

  • My water broke 3 days before my scheduled CS (was a constant trickle, nothing major), so I went to the hospital after a few hours later(it started around 3am, but I didn't care enough to confirm until around 7am, so as not to bug everyone that early, and I couldn't even feel my contractions).

I was only a fingertip dilated and nothing changed after a couple hours, so they started pitocin.  Even that didn't do the trick.  I got as far as 5cm before stalling out, so between that and DD's heart rate dropping with nearly every new dose, we finally decided to go back to the c-section that night (about 19 hours after water first broke).

  • I had a scheduled c-section (due to breech baby) on Feb 1st. My water broke on 1/9 and I had a c-section that afternoon.

  • My first was scheduled for 10 days before his due date but my water broke and early labor started 2 days before the scheduled c/s.

This time my RCS is scheduled for 7 days before his due date and I doubt he'll stay in there until then.  I expect him to make an earlier appearance.

  • Oh yes, I was 2 weeks early (I knew they had my due date wrong!).  I was scheduled to have a c-section because my daughter was breech, so when I called my doctor to tell her I was in labor, she had me rush right in for the surgery.

Sounds like you are getting ready--good luck!
