Anyone else with high blood pressure??

I have always had really low blood pressure. Like really low. My OB told me about two weeks before I delivered that it finally hit the "normal" range.

Since Clara has been born, the lowest my blood pressure has been is 140/90. REALLY high.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone else have high blood pressure and what do you do for it? I'd prefer not to medicate if I can avoid it. I'm already exercising (I'm 5'2 and 117) and eating healthy.

  • I got gestational hypertension and it never really went down. 2 weeks PP my doc put me on very low dose of Propanalol which has helped. The only way I got it to lower without meds was by laying down. Not gonna happen.

  • Yes I developed it post partum this time, with my first pregnancy I was put on medication at 34 weeks and off it 6 months pp.  I have been on it since 1 week pp this time.  I assume I will be off it my 6 months pp again.

  • I agree with with the other posters. I've had HBP since my early 20's. I was on medication, but then when I went off birth control it got better. It is purely genetic for me. I am of average weight and generally eat well and stay fit. I have found that the better I take care of myself, the better my BP is. Eat well, exercise, avoid too much alcohol. Also, if you are taking any form birth control you may want to ask your doctor about that. That was a big culprit for me. I am not on medication now by the way. I've been keeping it under control on my own.
