I am already sold on a VBAC, and I am seeing the OB who is the only game in town for VBACs. There aren't any midwives in my city who see patients for their first VBACs. Anyways, my OB is going to be on vacation for about 4 days two days before and two days after my due date. In Jamaica. At the wedding of the only other VBAC OB. So, at my 18 week appt I asked her to confirm if she had a back-up OB who would do my VBAC if I went into labor while she was gone. She gave me the name of person who would be on call and assured me that she does VBACs. So I called that OB's office and she looked at my chart and she said she would attempt a VBAC with me, but no promises, we have to make the decision that day, etc...All reasonable statements but she also didn't say anything...positive? I also asked what her section rate was and she said 33%. Now I am freaked that this woman will be on call if I go into labor. Outside of hiring a doula, what else do you think I should do? What questions should I be asking that I'm not? Anything else? TIA!

Re: Need some VBAC advice
I think hiring a doula is definitely a good idea. I would also make sure that the backup OB has similar rules. Most importantly, will she use some pitocin if you stall out?
Goodluck!
