Rough Recovery

Delivered 1/11 and Have been nauseous, having headaches even debilitating migraines and now back pain that started yesterday. Now I am having some kind of negative reaction to the tdap vaccine I was given before I Was discharged. I am so frustrated.

My OBGYN has suggested the ER but I am not taking a newborn to the ER. If it gets bad enough I guess I won't have a choice. I guess this is just a frustrated rant. I never expected recovery to be easy but I definitely didnt expect it to be worse from the anesthesia and vaccine! The incision is nothing compared to the rest of my symptoms.

Anyone else having similar issues?

  • Does your headache go away when you lie down flat?  Or get better if you have a soda or some coffee? If so, you may have a spinal headache. I had one from my epidural, and had to get a blood patch done to relieve the pain. I had to go to the hospital as well. DH stayed home with the baby, and my dad took me to the hospital. I hope you feel better soon.

  • I haven't had my C-section yet but know the symptoms of a spinal headache and like PP said, that sounds like what your having. As an ER nurse we saw these every once and awhile. You would be taken to have a blood patch by anesthesia and feel so much better after it was done (if that's the problem). Sounds worth checking. But, I agree with you too wouldn't take the baby to the ER with you if you can help it. We don't want to think about the germs lurking around there. Good luck!

This.  I hope you feel better soon.  I also didn't feel well from the TDAP but if you have a spinal headache those are terrible and you need that blood patch so you can feel better.  I am so sorry you feel so terrible.  There are also other causes that can happen that cause bad headaches so I would listen to your dr.  for your health.
