CBEFM Question

Ok so I was planning on using my CBEFM for the first time since our loss. Well my friend was the last to use it bc at the time I didnt need it. Anyways I went to use it this morning and it should of flashed for a pee stick for cd6 after a reset. Well I didnt reset it correctly. So I went to the website this morning and I was correct I hadnt reset it. So I reset it to be cd 5 because it is the last day it will let you set it to. So its going to be a day behind me and I am not sure if that will mess it up or not?!? What do you ladies think? Should I use it this cycle or wait and used opks? Do you think it will mess it up? I am not sure what to do bc this is my first cycle post mc and my cycles might be off anyways for a bit. Also it depends on how you look at cds. If you look at cd as when you have a heavy flow or a full day I am on cd5. If you count cd as light flow or the first sight of any bleeding, I am on cd6. Please help me understand this!

I have no advice on the cbefm. But I do believe that cd1 is counted at the first day of red flow not spotting. I always count cd1 as my light flow because it turns heavy 23 days in. And I do sometimes spot beforehand. Just on TP though.

I guess I would probably wait until next month to start it because it 'remembers' your cycle from last month so it will always be a day off and I think it will be confusing, ultimately. :-/

I would think it would be fine to use it.  It's very unlikely that it will ask you for a stick this early, so you should be fine.  I would also use opk's too, just to make sure you don't miss anything.

Does it count days by how many times its peed on or does it have a clock? If she could fool it with water or DH's pee or pee on it extra? then wouldn't she be ok?

I think it will be fine...I've started a day or two late on a few different cycles before and it still predicted my O date properly. I'd go ahead and use it since its only one day difference.

How did you "reset" it?  Since it was used by someone else, you have to erase all of their data.  Did you do that?  Once you do that, then you can set it to the correct day.

Also, you count CD1 as first day of full flow, so not just spotting or very light.  If that makes you CD5 then you should be fine to use it, if it makes you CD6, then I would wait until next cycle.

DCWJess, I dont know how it knows the the day but it has to be turned on 3 before or 3 after the set time. I get what you are saying when it comes to using it. Probably be best to wait to use it. Its kinda disappointing because I was hopeful that it would give me a better understand of my cycles.

Well its a rediculious process! You have to use a unpeed stick and insert it into the monitor while its off. Then turn it back on while holding the memory button until the screen flashes the whole display. Well last time I tried to reset I forgot the whole stick part. It wont let you set it past cd5 which sucks!

Yep, just making sure you knew that!  It is ridiculous.

My RE has you mark cd 1 as the first day of full flow, not spotting.  According to that, then you have no worries. If you still want to call today cd6, you can still use the monitor.  It normally has you start testing a few days before you need it.  As long as you aren't a super early Oer, then you shouldn't have an issue.

It will take a couple of months to get to know your cycle too.  So initially, it might tell you to start on cd6, but eventually might tell you start on cd 8.

FYI:  It requests tests in batches of 10. If after 10, you are still getting high or low readings, start a new batch.  You can stop testing after the first peak reading though.  It is programmed to give you 2 days of "peak" readings, followed by a "high."  If you haven't finished your batch of ten, it will continue to request sticks.  Same goes for if you get a "peak" during the 1st requested batch of 10.  You do not have to continue to test after the 1st "peak."

Thank you this is helpful! I am actually a late Oer so that works great. According to what you are say also I would be cd5 because I started a light flow late evening.
