Micro Dose Lupron Protocol

Started bcp today and will be going into a micro dose lupron protocol for ivf #1.  My AFC at baseline was 8...the lowest I've ever had. I'm excited and nervous but trying to keep happy and relaxed.

Any thoughts on this protocol?

Re: Micro Dose Lupron Protocol

  • Me again... I did IVF 1 and 2 using two variations of an antagonist protocol, I had decent egg retrieval / decent number mature, but the quality was terrible. We decided to switch RE's / switch clinics, research some second opinions and the winner was a new RE / new clinic with the MDLF protocol. The new RE went into a big long explanation of why he thought MDLF was a better option for me. So, the goal with IVF 3 was one good blastocyst, we got it. I had a good amount retrieved (19) / 17 mature. Of those, 4 made it to 5 days (we have never, never had anything make it past day 3 / 4). One was CGH normal 6AA beauty of a blast!. I'm doing MDLF currently (stim day 6) : I take 150 menopur / 20 IU Lupron every morning and 350 Gonal - F / 20 Lupron every evening and dexamethasone (a pill taken at bedtime, not unique to MDLF but new to me with this RE). At baseline I had 20 follies, which is a huge number for me. At my first monitoring appointment (stim day 4) I had 26 (!!!). My personal thoughts : It appears to be working for me. You'll find a good number of women on the bump boards where it's good, and a good number of women where MDLF was a bust. It's a bit more time consuming (everyday , twice a day, same time everyday you are taking the shots 4 total for myself). My Estrogen is sky high on this protocol : antagonist I would trigger around 1500 E2, with the MDLF I triggered last time at 4000. I feel like a BIG HUGE bloated mess... But, we freeze any blastys so I have time to recover from the blahs. Also, I have more monitoring appointments with this protocol, I start at stim day 4 , every other day until I hit 16-18 for follie size and then everyday. So last MDLF a total of 7 monitoring appts. My nurse indicated some women can go really quick on MDLF and some are super slow growers. I'm "in between", but once I get close to the end, growth really picks up speed. Sorry if this is a bunch of rambling. Search the bump for MDLF "microdose lupron" you'll find some success stories :) Good Luck to you!

  • Bakermom,

Not a bunch of rambling...I can't thank you enough! So your antral follicle count was 20 at baseline?! That's awesome. Mine was usually 12 to 16, but that was 4 months ago. I think I'm really seeing the decline. I'm 41 1/2 in two weeks.

I don't have the exact protocol/calendar yet. My RE's nurse is supposed to send it to me today. I'm on bcp, since cd2 (today is cd3). Did you take bcp before? I wonder what the dexaetasone is for?  What was part of the big long explanation? My RE told me she thought it was good for me because of my history of fibroids (don't have any measurable ones now, but I was full of them before my myomectomy). She said the lupron will help them not to grow. She warned me about all the monitoring and all the shots. She actually asked me if I was ok with all the shots. I said, let's just do what you think might work best! I think my RE is really great. I had two others and I was Mckayla Maroney 'not impressed'.

Hope to keep in contact with you! I'll be calling out for you on this board, or if you're ok with it, I'll pm you?

    Fingers crossed for us!!
