What do you do all day with DC?

I feel like a terrible mother. My little Jack is almost 4 weeks, and all we do all day is eat and sleep. I have tried to get him to play with a playmat and a mirror, but he is not that interested. Am I being a lazy mom?  What do you do all day with you little one?

  • That's pretty much all they do.  Keep playing.  Even if he doesn't seem interested, at least you are being entertained!  LOL!  I read a TON when brady was under 3 months old.

  • That's still early.  I would sing to DD & read/look at a book or two, but that's about it at that age.  I think it was around 6 or 7 weeks that she started to seem more interested in her baby gym toys.  Another idea is to let your baby lay on his/her tummy & look in the mirror.  Also, try to get out & take a walk w/baby.  It'll be good for your sanity & for stimulating the baby's senses.
  • ?That's all they do at 4 weeks. Meredith only wanted to be held and to look around some. Very little in fact.

I would play disney songs & dance around with her. At least she stimulated somehow. And it's good exercise for you. ?

  • You're doing just fine!  We take stroller walks, do tummy time, do our mom and baby yoga/baby massage DVD, and just in the past week he's shown some interest in his toys.  I read to him, but I think I'm the only one entertained by that.  Bath time is another thing we do that he seems to enjoy.

    But at 4 weeks, don't worry if it's all eat-sleep-poop.  :)

  • sounds a lot like our day! tho, andrew is starting to "play" a little.
  • he poops, sleeps and eats. I feed, and wipe. LOL. I try to get him to play but he could care less.
  • I read a book (don't remember which one) that gave ideas on what to do at different ages.  For the first two months, they rec'd 5 minutes a day of tummy time, at least 15 minutes of reading, lots of talking and making faces, and playing music.  Like you, though, I feel like I should do more!
  • Read Your Week by Week First year.  It tells you milestones and activities you can try each week.

we're at week 5 and we're still not "playing".  We are attempting but to no avail we aren't getting any where with it.
