Food Allergy

Will Gluten Free Help with my pregnancy symptoms?

I heard of a friend of a friend going gluten free and her  common complaints of morning sickness  stopped afterward. Any one hear about this?

  • It would only help if you already have an underlying gluten problem - gluten intolerance or Celiac.  It certainly won't hurt you to try it, but going truly gluten free is a HUGE undertaking and changes your diet (and lifestyle - say goodbye to spontaneity) drastically.

  • 1:133 people have a celiacs disease or a gluten allergy intolerance. Giving up gluten is fairly simple and many people feel better after doing so. If you have an underling food allergy or autoimmune disease caused by gluten it is best to stop eating it immediately.

It takes some effort but it is totally worth it.

I'm a celiac and have not have gluten in 2 years. it is manageable and may food item and restaurants now clearly label food or can accommodate a gluten allergy.

    Best of luck to you.

Also want to add, I do not require a GF diet but I know the impact of one. Hubby is celiac and his intolerance is so sever that we have to be wary of even places that say GF. Unfortunately a lot of places either don't understand or don't care about cross-contamination. If you are luck enough to only need to not eat it and cross-contamination isn't an issue, what pp said is quite true. However if you are like hubby where just using a fork that touched a table that had flour on it 2 hours ago but was washed in between makes you sick... it is a whole different ball of wax.

This is me.  I cannot even go into bakeries or breweries because gluten is hanging in the air and will make me sick.  I have to sit separately from other people at the salon because hair spray (which contains gluten) will give me hives.  Food made on shared equipment or even in the same facility as gluten is completely out of the question.  In my experience this is anything but simple.  I know I'm on the extreme end of the spectrum, but yeah... whole different ball of wax.  :)
