I am due on Friday, but my doctor said I will probably go over at this point. I really want to use cloth diapers but I am very overwhelmed with all of the different options and brands. Does anyone have some tips of what worked or didn't work for you? Also, what is your routine for cleaning? I am kind of confused on what to do for that part as well. Please help?

There's a lot of information in the FAQs link on the cloth diapering board, but I'll tell you what works for us! For the NB stage we're going with Green Mountain Diaper cotton fitteds and some cotton prefolds with Rumparooz diaper covers. After that I use Fuzzibuns (although I find them difficult to stuff), BumGenius 4.0s and Freetimes, and I got some size one Bumkins to try. I tend to prefer pocket diapers once they get past the NB stage. It is a lot easier to adjust the absorption to what your LO needs. For the first week or so, we'll probably use disposables that were passed on or given to us. Gives us a chance to settle in with baby before having to worry about diapers.
As far as washing, I wash everyother day. All my diapers get washed in hot water with a cold pre-wash, Rockin Green detergent and an extra rinse. I haven't had any problems with build up yet! During the summer I do try to sun them (lay them out in the sun to dry) once a month, but once fall hits that is no longer an option around here! A lot of cloth diapering is finding what works for your LO. But these are the diapers that seem to work for us (and a great many of my CD friends).
I find that the board itself can be overwhelming as there is soooo much variation out there, but the FAQs are great! Feel free to PM if you want!
