Underachiever babies!

Okay, let me first assure you that my pedi says my girls are perfectly healthy. Holy cow, I'm beginning to feel like my chubby twin girls are the only ones NOT even close to rolling over. Not even a little effort. I give them every opportunity to try, but nope. They lie there like lumps. They're 14 weeks now. Maybe I'm a little jealous of the moms posting videos of their 8 week olds rolling over! Who's with me?? Anyone else have an underachieving baby? Haha! Actually, I'm very proud of my girls. They're good sleepers and very content. Maybe a little on the chubbs side, but maybe that's why they can't roll over!!

Re: Underachiever babies!

  • My LO is a bit younger than your girls, but he also hasn't tried to roll at all. He hates tummy time so I don't really know how that first roll is going to happen if he's never on his stomach!

  • No rolling here.  I've started to do shorter more frequent tummy times in the hopes of something happening, but nothing yet.  It's ok though, LO still sleeps swaddled in the RnP so I'm in no hurry for her to roll and have to move her.
  • Not even close over here either! My guy hates TT and just screams so I hardly make him do it....I know, shame shame haha

  • Jovanni has absolutely no interest in rolling. Fine by me! The longer I have before I have to go after him the better!

  • We are right there with you!! Charlie just lays there and doesn't attempt to move. He seems to do better when laying on daddy's chest though. I am getting concerned. He favors laying on the left side of his head, and now that side is really flat. We've been doing neck exercises to help stretch his neck muscles, and he still favors his left side. Pedi told us today that we'd look at it again at their four month check up, and if it' s not better we might have to get a helmet. Bryce is doing really well though. He is very close to rolling, and pushes up really well. He also turns his head both ways when he's doing tummy time. He's also a whole pund less than Charlie. However, Charlie is sleeping 8 to 9 hours at night, and Bryce still wakes up for 1 or 2 middle of the night feedings.

  • No rolling here either!  At our last appointment, L was in the 20ish percentile for weight and height and the 60th for head size so I joke that this is why he'll have a hard time rolling over.   Boy has got a lot of head to move!

  • Jake is almost 16wks and has not made any attempt to roll over. He doesn't seem to have any motivation to do so. Oh well.

  • I wouldn't call our babies underachievers, I would say that the other babies rolling are overachievers and our are just normal ;-) Eventually they will all roll, sit up and walk. Then comes speech which is a whole different ballgame.
  • My kid rolled... Once... In his sleep. Have yet to actually see it. He likes to stand and his neck strength is getting better. But still pretty much just lays there. I think he's starting to get bored because he can be entertained by little toys now.

  • OP - your daughters are too precious! So, so adorable.

My daughter is 17 weeks and has just started rolling onto her side from her back this week. Tummy to back is a non-starter since she abhors tummy time. I am not worried because she is doing everything else she is supposed to be doing and it makes sense rolling isn't a high priority with "back to sleep", etc.

  • No rolling here. Don't worry about it! DS1 didn't roll over untilmhe was almost 5 months old....and he is perfectly fine! DD rolled over at 8 weeks, but I think she was just an overachiever :) I think DS2 is going to be lazy just like his older bro, lol.
  • No rolling here either... Well once, like four weeks ago. In due time I suppose.

This! She's a good sleeper and I credit the swaddle and RnP. Shes nowhere near rolling over that I can tell.

  • One of my twins rolls belly to back and is very close to doing back to belly, but the other just lays there :)
