How did you know when LO was teething (prior to tooth erupting)?
My LO has had extreme amounts of drool the past week and puts his hands in his mouth NON STOP. He was way into his hands last month when he first discovered them, but now is different. He gnaws on them and always concentrates on the same side of his mouth. He is feverish about his hand gnawing - to the point where he won't sleep if I don't hide his hands from him (by swaddling).
He also has been VERY fussy lately. Woke up in what seemed like pain 8x last night (normally wakes 2x/night). He's been screaming in pain on and off today. No fever, eating pretty normally so I feel dumb taking him to the doctor.
Thoughts?
Re: STMs - teething signs?
Mostly just things you mentioned, LO was drooling more and chewing his hands non-stop... he also wakes up from naps sometimes for no reason and needs to be soothed back to sleep, and now he has a little white tooth nubbin popping out. So far it's really not bad so we haven't been giving him anything for it... my pedi said tylenol is tough on the liver and the homeopathic teething tablets have some dicey information on Dr. Google, so if he seems to be in more pain I'll talk to his pedi about it, but for now he really seems to be doing well with it.
We also have those refrigerator teething toys we can try when he's older, but for now he only wants to chew his hands!

You'll know when a tooth is going to poke through because the gums get really red and swollen. Almost looks like a small pea under the gums.
I used orajel and Tylenol. I know gasp for the bump I didn't go the organic route but as long as you're not using alot and excessively it's fine. A SMALL amount a few times a day is not a big deal. And instead of giving a dose of Tylenol I would rub a drop on the gums and that would help.
A cold wash cloth with ice cubes in it hold it for them to chew on and frozen teething toys is why we used.
I agree nothing wrong with Tylenol! Yesterday he was screaming for almost two hours and he was just so uncomfortable so I gave him some an then a little 4 hours later. He finally got some sleep and was much better when he woke up!
