Anyone give or plan to give their LO tylenol before the 1 month check-up for the shots? If so how much baby tylenol do you give a 1 month old? My pediatrician doesnt agree with giving tylenol before shots.
I do give some before shots, but won't at 1 month. We don't have shots until 2 months. Our pedi told us to do the Tylenol before the shots. When I forgot once, they gave it to DS for me.
I wouldn't for the first shots bc it could mask a reaction, which you would want to note for future doses. Just my 2 cents on this one.
Also, we don't do any vaccines until 2mths. Which are your LO getting at 1mth?

AAt our check up doc said the earliest the DTaP shot can be given and count is 6 weeks and one day. Normally the shots are done at 8 weeks or the 2 mo appt. I scheduled it during 6 weeks though because i want to be able to watch LO for a reaction and give her time for the immunities to take effect since I will start back at work in the classroom soon after she reaches 8 weeks.
She got her second HepB shot at her one month. We didn't give her Tylenol. I've never actually heard of giving Tylenol before a shot, just after if they seem miserable.

I hadn't heard of that either. The pedi said if he seemed uncomfortable to give him some after. He's already had his two month shots and was fine 2 minutes after so I didn't have to. I don't think I would give him anything before the shots.

It won't mask the reaction, the Tylenol helps with the pain of the actual shot. It wears off by the time the reaction would come in to play, so long as you don't give another dose.
I wouldn't for one month, but I plan to for 2 months cause that's when our shots start. I got the little tummy's dropper one and plan on dividing down to weight.

It sounds like there are a lot of opinions on what to do out there. My pedi told me not to give Tylenol before the shots because it can cause some adverse reactions with the shots. He said it was alright to give it afterwards, if needed.
Re: First Month Check-up
Check the dosage on the box or leaflet. You go by weight, not age.
ETA: his first shots aren't until 2 months, though.
