Tell me about these exercise/health apps

Mobile users: Tell me about these exercise/health apps

I keep hearing things about "My Fitness Pal" and others but I know nothing about them. What do you recommend? What does it do? How does it work? How much does the app cost? Any other pertinent info?

  • I use CardioTrainer, which has a free lite version. You can track more food, I think with full version. I use it for its really user friendly workout app aspects. I also use WW app for food tracking.

  • My Fitness Pal lets you input your calories and exercise for the day. It really helps you to realize how much you actually eat and it really helped me to notice portion size! I actually should start using it again. I lost almost 5 lbs then I stopped and it is all back... Sad!

  • I really like My FItness Pal.  It has a vast library of foods so the scan and track feature is fantastic.  I have been a lifetime WW member and I feel this rivals their new apps...for free.

I've been using it for a few weeks now and really enjoy it's simplicity.

  • I have lost 69lb using My Fitness Pal. Actually I lost 73 but then quit using it and gained back some. I started using it again at the beginning of the month and just tracking food alone, I haven't exercised, lost almost 5lb in 15 days.

Another favorite of mine is MapMyFitness, but I haven't used it yet this month...because it is frickin' cold outside. I used it in the fall though and it tracked my every move. Which was nice because walking on a track, you know the distance, but walking streets or campuses or anything else....you have no idea. MMF will track it all including elevations, time, calories burned, etc. and you can save them in a recording log. At the end of your walk/run/hike/bike ride....you can push a button and it shows a map of your location and then shows a little red line. The red line will go all over the place, showing the exact route you took drawing it out as you went, instead of showing the route all at once.

  • I forgot to add that MFP is free and I believe MapMyFitness is free....but if it isn't, MapMyWalk and MapMyRun are free

  • Thanks for the info ladies! I keep hearing about these apps but never knew anything about them. I may have to try a couple of these to see if it will help me with losing some of this chunkiness!
