I am looking for suggestions on what others have liked! I had one with DS (can't remember which one) and it was ok with the smell. What is working well for you guys with the smell and not gross in general!! TIA!
We use the Diaper Genie Elite and it's great. The only time there is an odor is if you open it when it's pretty full. Otherwise, on a day-to-day basis, no odor escapes at all. DS's nursery is upstairs and we did not want to have to take trash out everyday, so we felt like a diaper pail was the way to go.
I used a Diaper Genie with my first son, it did a great job until the lid broke after a couple of years. I'll be getting something different for my second baby.
My cousin told me to get the munchkin diaper pail because the refills are cheap and it works great.
I have this & the refills are NOT cheap. It does work great for N & size 1 diapers since about 20 fit in it at that point. It's great for about the first 6 months then the diapers get too big & quit compacting.
I've had mine since DS was born and I wouldn't purchase it again at this time. At 10 months DS was able to break the latch & get inside it (less than 10 seconds I was there-just a bang to the top) and once he was eating solids it really stunk-even though I replaced the baking soda on a regular basis. I am looking to replace it with a cheaper option, that takes regular bags, & I'll just add an air freshener & baking soda. I'm using it now until I use all of the bags.

I have the dekor and don't love it! Part of the reason I got it was because you can use normal garbage bages with it - i don't know if it is the garbage can itself or the fact that we now use normal bags but the odor is horrid and isn't contained that well. I am looking at other options now in fact.
I have a regular old stainless steel trash can with lid. I take the diaper trash out every other day. It is smelly when you open the lid, but only for a brief time.
No special bags to buy, no smell at ALL. I tried a few different ones and this one was worth it. It's powder coated steel, fully sealed with rubber gaskets. No odor can escape!

this is what we have and we use the stock pile of grocery bags we had from before we used reusable bags.

I have an extra one in white. Used, but I can send it to you. I have it listed on craigslist: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bab/3534682251.html
Also, when baby grows up, it will still be a great trash can. PM me if you're interested.
