Baby Gate Recos

Hey ladies...it is about that time...I think my little man will be on the move shortly, which means we need to put up two baby gates. We have a split level, so I will need one at the bottom of the stairs going to the upstairs and one at the top of the stairs going to the basement.

I know I may get some sh*t for this one, but if there is a really good gate for the top of the stairs (between two walls--no railings) where I don't have to drill into my wall would be awesome.

So please recommend your baby gates for stairs. I need ones that have a swinging door, as I am short and will not feel comfortable trying to step over them with DS and don't want to have to take it down and put it back up every time that I go up and down the stairs (which since I still have bay brain sometimes can be frequent).

If there is a gate with the option to keep the door open and doesn't automatically close would be nice too.

Let me know if you love/like/hate your gate and why.

TIA!

Re: Baby Gate Recos

  • We got a First Years brand swinging gate (off of craigslist) and i absolutely love it!!!

it doesn't screw into the wall...but it hasn't budged, it's adjustable and the swing gate doesn't automatically close, you have to close it.

we use it at the top of our stairs and i really love it. maybe the only con that i can think of is that in order to open it there is a foot levy thing you step down on (it does take some weight which is great) but coming up the stairs and stepping down on the little lever is sometimes a little awkward.

We've gone thru a few baby gates (with our dog) and he has totally destroyed the other two that we've tried. This seems to be our answer...no problems yet!

    good luck!!
