Self-Care Check-In

So, tell us...

Last week's Self-Care challenge was to be creative - create a piece of art - were you?  Did you enjoy it?

If you didn't try last week's challenge, did you do something else in terms of Self-Care?

This week's challenge:  Just say no... I take on tasks like it's going out of style, often overwhelming myself in the process.  If you do too, then just say no.  Don't take on any additional work this week, don't add any additional events to your calendar, and stop trying to do more.  JUST SAY NO.

Re: Self-Care Check-In

  • i didn't do the creative thing, but i did a good job this week doing yoga every day and meditating almost every day. trying to keep that up!

for this week . . . oy, trying to think what i can say no too! sadly, i feel like i go through life doing just the minimum and it's still pretty tough. =(

  • For last week's challenge, we got a holiday chocolate kit from my parents. We did chocolate for the first time ever as a family. I will say it was messy and quite fun. they were the messiest gingerbread shaped chocolates. DS was eating the candies instead of decorating the chocolate. We will do it again.

This week I called into work sick. I am glad I did even though I had things to take care of for DS.

  • I did not do the challange - but I did join a Moms and More at the church where DD goes to daycare, they provide free daycare. It was pretty awesome - and at the end they do prayers and praises and for 1-2 minutes I really felt the other moms listening to my plight.

I need to check in more here - especially on these.

  • I wanted to draw out a plan for my garden but decided to wing it instead, I dug four beds, made a raised planter for mint, and planted a few things...

Then a very not normal for SoCal frost and freeze filled week happened and killed my tomato plants. Boo for dead plants but yay for the workout of digging the beds and getting to be creative.

I am bad am saying no but I need to start saying it to our social worker, I will work on that this week.
  • I did not do the challenge, but enjoyed a nice date night with dh.  We saw parental guidance, totally a must see!  I also went and got a massage yesterday which was very nice!  I dont think ill have a problem saying no this week since our calandar is pretty full already!

  • I don't think I did anything creative last week: that's not really an area of strength for me anyway :) This week I have already said no :)

DHs schedule changed from day shift to swings: he is still asleep when I leave to take kids to school & go to work, he leaves home at 2pm, I get home from work with the boys after he leaves, and he is home at midnight ... I am alseep by then. So if I don't go home on my lunchbreak I don't see him. I have already said no to one lunch invitation this week :)

  • If by creative, we can include cooking, then yes.  I've been on a "let's get less take-out" kick and have been cooking.  I've been improvising with some spices and the results have been good so far.

And even though the week's challenge wasn't to do something for ourselves, I actually did.  I went out to dinner with my team at work.  We went out for vegetarian Indian food and it was great.  So good to just get out and have a little fun.

Hmmm, just say no? That's going to be a hard one.
