Clomid - Side effects?

I started Clomid last night!  I go in Saturday for ultrasound and I'm just so nervous!!!  nervous that the doseage is wrong, that we will have to cancel this month, etc.  It's just the unknown right now.  Any words of wisdom?  Anyone experience Clomid side effects?

Re: Clomid - Side effects?

  • I haven't taken clomid in over 2 years so this is just what I remember... I know I didn't respond to the clomid on 50mg or 100mg but I did have headaches, weight gain, and mood swings (BAD mood swings!!!) Like I'm fine then I'm a *** and yelling and upset and then crying all for no reason! I have switched to femara and the only side effect I have had is sleepiness, which is okay because I just take the medicine when I get home at about 5pm and so the sleepiness during the day isn't too bad. I understand the unknown and how unsettling it can be, so I'm wishing you luck and I'm on here all the time if you need to talk through the blogs though I don't do the pm stuff.... Mainly because I'm just on here at work so it's easier to do one screen...

  • I have some moodiness, but for me the night sweats are horrible! I can't begin to tell you how gross it is. At least I'll be prepared for menopause.

    Good luck!

18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

  • Do the night sweats kick in right away??
  • For me they did, but this is my 7th cycle on them. When I used them when I got pregnant with DS, I don't think I really had any side effects. The longer you are on it, I think the more side effects you get.

I hope you are in the clear and don't get any side effects except a healthy pregnancy.  Smile

  • It is very nerve-wracking!  Hang in there!  For me, there were no side effects except some constipation (which stayed around while pregnant, so... whatever, prune juice is my best friend).  The first month, the dose was wrong, no O. I was very sad.  But the next month, the dose was right on, and I was pregnant on my first O!  There are ups and downs, but just try to stay positive.

Um, I really hope I do not get this side effect!!!

  • My first cycle the night sweats started closer to ovulation. Time. 2nd and 3rd cycle started right away. My 3rd cycle I was also pretty moody. But I thought none if the symptoms were unbearable. Hope everything goes well with your first cycle. Most women start on 50mg. I started on 100mg developed 5 follies so RE lowered me to 50mg and I still developed 4! Good luck!
