Has anyone else dealt with a formula strike? I don't even know if that's an actual thing, but it seems to be the best way to describe what we're going through.
Basically DD won't drink any of her bottles. She sees it coming and gets all upset and flails her arms batting it away. We've tried sippy cups, straw cups, regular cups, medicine droppers, WCM, heating it, and cooling it, and I'm totally at my wits end.
This started on Friday, and it's just gotten worse over the course of the weekend. She drank very little on Friday, less Saturday and even less today (we're talking like 5 oz/day!).
She is definitely not eating enough regular food to meet all her needs right now, so I'm starting to get very nervous. Her regular food eating is ok. Not great, but it's fine. She is acting pretty normally too. Not really fussy. She seems to get hungry, but then won't take her formula.
Anyone else go through this and have any suggestions? We got totally desperate before bed tonight, so we put a little cranberry juice into her formula and she drank it! It seems like she doesn't like the taste anymore. Is that even possible?!
Oh, and how totally awful is it that we put a little juice in her formula? I definitely don't want to make it a habit, but just curious if I'm going to be reported to CPS or if this is just sort of a try not to do it again thing. TIA!
Re: Formula Strike
Thanks for your reply!
This is what lead to us putting the juice in the formula. We had the same concern. She drinks some water, but not a ton. We typically to rely on BM or formula for her hydration.
Just keep trying the best you can and watch for dehydration. If it doesn't get better in a week I would call your pediatrician.
Allison did this. In fact, if we got 6 ounces in her all day then it was a GOOD day. We learned this weekend that if we warm it up in the microwave first (flame away) she will drink it!
We put 8 ounces in for 20 seconds and she drinks it all...we even got her to 12 ounces this weekend...miracle!
