Post Partum Exercise

Just wondering how everyone is doing exercise wise? I'm 5 weeks pp and just got back into it the last week or so. I feel great. Bleeding has stopped I had no tearing or issues at all. I'm wanting to do a ripped class tonight. Wondering if it may be to early or if I should just go on how I feel? I'm ready to get going!

Re: Post Partum Exercise

  • Hey! I'm five weeks PP as well. I had a midline episiotomy, but I stopped bleeding around three weeks PP and I wasn't in pain, so I started some light workouts. I've slowly been building up to more intense sessions as I test what my body can/cannot handle right now.

If you think you are ready, you could always try. If you feel like it is too much or you start bleeding again, it could be a sign that it's too much too soon!

  • At my 4w pp appt the NP told me I could do things like walking and yoga. I've been doing the walking. The first time I went for a good walk I did bleed a lot more after, so I have been taking it slow. Starting at 6w I am hoping to start the cardio Pilates that are on netflix.

  • I started walking and yoga workouts around 2 weeks PP for a couple of weeks. Around 4 weeks PP I started slowly working back to weight training and higher-impact exercise. I began running at about 6 weeks PP. I actually did 4 miles yesterday! I'm 12 weeks PP now, though.

I started very slowly and took it easy. As long as you do that, and listen to your body, I say go for it. Also, fair warning, your bladder control will NOT be the same! Jumping jacks are the worst Embarrassed

    Way to be motivated!
