Magic sleep suit

Someone on the 3 to 6 month board suggest I post this here.

DD needs to be swaddled for her crazy arms. Does the magic sleep suit help with that?

Also, sizing....is the 3 to 6 or 6 to 9 month equivalent sizing to clothing from let's say Carter's or similar?

Re: Magic sleep suit

  • The sleep suit doesn't contain the arms in the same way the swaddle does, but it's poofier and heavier so babies don't flail around like they would without it.

Yes, I've seen it. Just wasn't sure if it was necessarily a transition for only secureness or if it would help with her arms. Thanks!!

yea it's just to mimic that confined feeling that babies miss when they leave the womb.

  • Have you tried a woombie? They work great for keeping an infant from moving their arms.

Isn't the woombie a method if swaddling? I'm trying to break the habit. She's so close to rolling over swaddled.

Prop rolled up blankets on either side. DS rolled over very early and we were seriously concerned about him accidentally rolling over (swaddled or not) so we just put rolled up blankets on either side of him to prevent him from rolling.

  • We loved the magic sleep suit for once we stopped swaddling.  It definitely helps with arm flailing.  I can't remember for sure, but I want to say that the sizing was true to size.  My kid was skinny so we never needed more than the 3-6 month size.

We used it in the same way: transition out of swaddling before DD was ready to be completely free flailing at night and she was rolling over in her swaddle and screaming (started the sleep suit at ~4 months old).  From what I remember the sizing is pretty true, although my DD is on the small side (5th percentile for height and weight) so I bought both the 3-6 and 6-9 months sizes but she never wore the larger size because we stopped using it around 8months old and she still fit the 3-6 size.
