First OB appt!

Was yesterday! and everything went well. but what shock me most is they want you to Register for the hospital by 16 weeks! I had to ask the check out clerk 2 twice because I thought i misheard her. I will have a schedule C-section. I don't know if that is why or not but man you are not even half way. Just wondering if anyone else has to register early for hospital?

  • That is early. Mine has to be completed around 30 weeks.

  • They wanted me to register by 22 weeks.  I imagine it's not that they have a whole bunch of 22 week (or 16 week, in your case) ladies signed up, it's that they tell you early so you at least get registered at SOME point. The thing is, when you register, they also want you to name your pediatrician (at my hospital) and I didn't have that person picked yet.

  • My office is 20 weeks. They told me they do that because once you reach 20 weeks if you call them for any emergency issues they will send you to labor and delivery and not ED. So it is important that they have your information when you come in so you are not wasting your time giving it to them. So your office might start sending people at 16 weeks, or the hospital might take a few weeks to process the information.

  • My OB said to register at 15 weeks.  Might have something to do with the fact that it's affiliated with Johns Hopkins so they probably fill up quick?   Whatever.  haha
