Headaches??

I am 10 weeks today and the last few days I have had less nausea thank God!! but lots of headaches! I know is ok for me to take acetaminophen but I don't want to be ingesting too much medicine even the safe kind. Anyone else experiencing this? And if so, any other successful treatments that you have come across to lessen the pain??

Re: Headaches??

  • I have been getting a daily headache for four days now. It just drink more water and take Tylenol. It's all that works for me. In my two previous pregnancy's I had a daily headache from about weeks 8 to week 24 or so. I hope yours get better

  • Yes, I had migraines with my 1st pregnancy, and now with this one! I actually called my OB last night bec I was having vision changes. He said to continue to take 1000mg of tylenol every 6hrs, and if worse to call back. Last pregnancy I had to start taking vicodin and flexeril, which really really helped (my OB said that my migraines start off as tension headaches, that progress to full on migraines, thus why she gave me flexeril). I started taking the vicodin around 10wks, and the flexeril, ?? 14wks-ish. Also, I know that lots of pregnant women are afraid of caffeine, but really it does help!! GL!

  • Oh, and also, once I hit the 2nd tri, my doctor gave me the OK to try some motrin. But that still didnt really work, so we stuck with the vicodin.

  • I haven't tried it yet myself, but my friend who is due in march gets intense migraines said she found remedy that works. Peppermint oil rubbed on her temples and under her nose. Said works pretty quick. I googled it and there's plenty online about it. I'll try it myself next time.

  • I pop Tylenol like skittles lately. Headaches were a big problem in my last pregnancy as well. I remember it got better in 2nd tri!

There is also a pressure point between your thumb and forefinger, if you press and hold for 30 seconds it can sometimes help. Also the warm feet/cold head cure. Sometimes laying in the bath with a cold pack on my head helps.

Those both sound crazy...but they have worked for me. Good luck!

  • Tylenol doesn't seem to help my headaches much. I can sometimes get relief from a cold compress though!

  • Thanks everyone! I will give some of those others a try peppermint oil sounds interesting and try not to stress about taking the Tylenol if need be. Thanks again!
  • I have always had migraines and I was worried how bad it would get during pregnancy. My OB said that I could take excedrine migraine. Give it a try
  • I'm going on a week straight of tension headaches! Only certain spots are achy and have moved to my neck and shoulders. I don't remember this with my other two, but my gosh they suck! I take Tylenol and throw my pillow in the dryer to warm up and sleep on it. It helps a little bit, but I'm hoping they end soon, it's annoying!
