Mommy Meetup Groups

I found a mommy meet up group on meetup.com and I was planning on attending the first meeting this weekend.  I noticed that pretty much everyone in the group is bringing their husband. There is no way my boyfriend wants to spend his Saturday afternoon at a mommy meetup group and I wouldn't even ask him to do this!!!  This is probably the last thing in the world most men want to do!  I don't really want to go and be the only one there without a significant other, so I'm probably just not going at this point. Is it standard to bring your SO to these meetup groups?? I kinda pictured them being mommies chatting about mommy things, not couples attending. Anyone have any experienced with mommy meetup groups?  Thanks in advance!!

I belong to a mommy meetup group on meetup.com as well... and we usually have 60% mommies and kids events, 30% just mommy time events, and 10% family events (like the pumpkin patch etc)....

maybe its the rare time that the event is for everyone... I would ask them if it is usually that way, or is this just something that goes on once in a while... I am sure that they wont hassle you for asking...

DH would have really liked going to a meet up when DS was born. We had signed up for a couples parenting support for the early months, but then DH started a new job out of town and couldn't attend. There just isn't a whole lot of stuff out there for dads.

We go to a weekly drop-in, which is nice-- it's mostly moms and as it turns out the coordinator is a SAHD.

I'm in a working moms group. They have lots of family type events and I've found it's 50/50 where some bring a SO and some don't. She actually enjoyed the couple he went to.

The majority of the time the Mommy Meetup groups have only the mommy and the kids.  We had some family picnics this past summer that had families there.  And I had a Little Monsters and Witches Bash--Halloween Party--and some husbands showed up.  

 If you want to go, I would just go without your boyfriend.  You are mostly there just to meet other mothers and let your kids play with the other kids.  

There have been other mommy meetups where they have said no husbands for certain events.  And with two kids, this was more stressful to manage the two kids by myself--and it is easier to manage two kids with your husband there at the event--one parent for each kid.  Each family is different with their own unique situation.  So I ended up not going to this mommy meetup and went to a more family friendly meetup because it worked better for our family and the location was closer.
