Like Whitney, Tenley, Haven, Laken (okay - I know a 7 y/o but I've never come to love this name), Blakelee (too trashy sounding for my taste though)

Do not like Honor, Ireland, River (boy name), Parker (boy name), Emery, Allegra (isn't that an allergy drug?), Auden (love Audrey though), McKinley (sounds masculine), Odette (sounds like an old man)

  • Harper- I like this name. super cute but growing in popularity.
Whitney- that is my name! Honestly I'm indifferent.
Tenley- People will call it trendy but there is something so cute about it.
    Honor- Not a fan.
Ireland- Bad. I don't like it at all and the only time I've ever heard it was on a boy :/
    River- Not a fan.
    Winter- Don't like
    Parker- Like.
Emery- Don't like. I think of an old man (my neighbor)
    Allegra- Old Lady Name.
Mallory- I think it is pretty but ever since I've heard the meaning of the name it's always in the back of my mind
    Eden- Dislike.
    Auden- Like.
McKinley- This used to by my favorite girl name years ago, but I'm ove it now. Still like Kinley as a nn though.
    Harlow- Cute.
Odette- My first thought was Toadette from the Mario games
    Haven- Ok.
Laken- This name has a certain appeal to me. I would spell it Lakin though but its because that is the ln of some people I know so I would be more likely to spell it like that. I think it is prettier too.
Blakelee- The name isn't all that bad but I don't like the spelling.

  • Like: Whitney, Allegra

    okay: Odette, Eden, Mallory

Really bad: Blakelee (that spelling is dreadful.)

  • I really like Allegra- classic, Italian, musical name. Granted, the allergy drug probably has a lot to do with people disliking it.

I don't mind Eden. Mallory and Whitney seem a bit dated to me but are still fine names.

I really don't like any of the rest.

  • I have been keeping Allegra as my secret girl name for like - ummm... almost 20 years now.

I can't believe so many people on here are on to it/ like it.

I love it but REALLY want it to stay unpopular so I can use it if I ever get to have a baby girl!

  • Love: Honor, River (only for a boy though :/), Winter (obviously), Allegra & Haven.
    Like: Ireland, Harlow & Laken.
Dislike: Harper, Whitney, Tenley, Parker, Emery, Mallory, Eden, Auden  & Odette.
    Hate: McKinley & Blakely.

  • Harper - very pretty, just a bit common/trendy for me

    Whitney - not a fan.

Tenley - Not a fan, but I like Tennille

Honor (I do not like Honora, sorry) - I have no problem with Honor

Ireland - seems contrived (like you're trying too hard)

    River - pretty

    Winter - pretty

Parker - dislike for a girl

Emery - love for a boy! This was my prom date's middle name! I think it's pretty for a girl, too, but there are so many other Em- names, that I think it's kind of unoriginal. Pretty though.

Allegra - it's nice, but now it just reminds me of the allergy medication

Mallory - I really dislike Mallory. No particular reason, I just don't like it.

Eden - Not a fan of this name. I prefer Eve.

Auden - I've only known little boys with this name, but if you don't mind unisex names then that's not a problem.

McKinley - HATE. I think Mc___ names as first names look so unbelievably trashy.

Harlow - very pretty. I like Harlow.

    Odette - Really like!

Haven - meh. I don't usually like word names. Destiny, Haven, etc.

Laken - I LOOOOVE Laken. It's one of those names I won't use myself, but it's really pretty.

Blakelee? Blakeley? Blakely? Blakeleigh? - strongly dislike all of the above. The fact that you yourself don't have any idea how you'd spell it is a testament to how made-up it is.

My favorites for you (in this order) are Laken, Honor, Harlow, Odette.

  • Girls names ARE hard!! You want it to have the right connotation. Girly but not overly so, unique but not too Youneek, etc.  ;)

You have some interesting names on your list and I like the general direction!

Personally I'm into Harper these days, I don't know any baby Harpers so it seems unique and plus it's a family name for us (FIL middle name).

I also like Harlow, Haven and Parker.

  • I don't really like any of them but Ireland bothers me the most because there is already a nice and legit girl name, Erin, that means Ireland, so why would you use the word Ireland? makes no sense to me.

Because I strongly dislike the name Erin. It is NMS. It is plain.

Haven - too close to Nevaeh to me

Harper - s'ok, but I'm seeing it a lot online lately and I think I'm getting over it
Whitney - meh, a little dated
Tenley - looks like a last name, I'd accept it more on a boy
    Honor - love
Ireland - too literal for me
River - ok, but I was a big Firefly fan, so I'd always be waiting for her to go crazy.
    Winter - growing on me
Parker - I love the female Parker on Leverage, but a girl would have to be pretty quirky to pull it off
    Emery - ok
Allegra - I do think of the allergy meds, but I knew an Allegra in college and she was awesome, so it's a good association
Mallory - reminds me of Le Morte d'Arthur (Thomas Malory) and Baby-sitters Club, kind of dated
Eden - ok, another one I have an association with from my youth, very quirky
Auden - ok, but I'd expect you know the poems of WH Auden by heart
McKinley - the high school on Glee
    Harlow - I prefer Marlow
Odette - the swan princess, ballet
    Haven - really cute
    Laken - cute
Blakelee? Blakeley? Blakely? Blakeleigh? no. definitely not. any of these.

  • I LOVE River. I also really like Emery, Winter, Eden, Auden (literary reference?), and Odette. I would strongly caution against Allegra-- it sounds awesome, but it's a pretty popular allergy medication. I really appreciate your naming style-- it's creative but not totally wacky. Also, full disclosure: River, Winter, and Eden are on my name list. :)

  • Mallory is okay. I don't like any of the others, but I think we just have very different taste in names.
  • I think we must have similar taste because I love most of these and some are actually on my list too. McKinley and Harper are on my list. I love Blakely (my hubby is Blake though). I also like Harlow, Parker, Tenley, and Haven a lot. One site I was on did relate Harlow to Harlot though :(
  • imageMelsaX:

I like Harper and Eden. I would give suggestions, but I don't quite understand your style? Seems like you like some traditional names and then some trendy as all hell names.

Harper is the only name I would consider trendy from my list. It was in the top 100 in 2011 according to the SSA. Im not a fan of trendy names like this but it is one name I love. I heard it years ago and fell in love with it.

Our sons name is Maverick. We like different names that aren't ridiculous and made up.

I do not like old style names and I wouldn't say I like traditional. I don't consider Whitney or Mallory traditional. It may have been a name in the 80's but I don't know a single Whitney IRL besides Whitney Houston and well I personally did not know her.

    Thanks for your input.
