Talk baby carriers pls

Ok so I am a STM and I never used a carrier with DS#1.  However I currently have a Moby Wrap and wear DS #2 a lot.  He is a pretty big boy and the Moby is hurting my back and cutting into my shoulders a bit.  I am looking into getting a new carrier and I want something that is easy to get on and off and easy to travel with.  What do you all recommend?  TIA.

  • If you generally like the Moby and don't mind wrapping, a woven wrap works the same but doesn't stretch. It will provide more support and is also safe for back carries.

I have an Ergo, and used it a lot. I can still use it if DS wants to be carried. Pros: fast to get on, comfortable, supportive. Cons: Bulky to pack. If you want to be able to cram it in a diaper bag, I'd look at the Boba Air.

I've also used a mei tai (Infantino Wrap and Tie), which was a good price and not bad to fold up and travel with, and fairly comfortable to use. And I have a ring sling, but it's best for shorter trips and with an up/down toddler.

Really, if at all possible, it's good to go to a store or babywearing club and try stuff out. Otherwise, you just buy something and see how it goes. I bought my Ergo on babysteals, and the others used, so the cost wasn't terrible.

  • I love my Ergo. Its by far my favorite carrier. They too now have a travel version as well out that looks pretty cool. I also have been eyeballing the Babyhawk mei tai as well. Good luck!

  • I love my Ergo, but I also loved the ways the Moby could be used so I opted for a woven wrap as well. I didn't like how low the Ergo was for back carries so I would use the woven wrap for that. I still love it and I'm 20wks pg and DD#1 is 2.5yo.
  • Hi, I don't have any hands on experience, but I currently use the Moby. Once spring hits and my lo is bigger, my plan is to get the Beco Gemini or the Butterfly II. I've checked it out at the local baby boutique and also have talked to those who use it and am pretty impressed! I also like that its easy to slip on and off. I think that my dh will really like it. He doesn't really love using the Moby because it takes awhile to get on...
