Trouble TTC

IUI #1

Hello, my husband and I have been ttc since July 2010.  I have both PCOS and Endometriosis. Last July I had surgery to remove the Endo, but still have not conceived.  At my next appointment, we will be planning our first IUI.  What should I expect from this?  Thank you! Smile

Re: IUI #1

  • I have already had my tubes checked, and my husband has already had a sperm analysis.  I'm clear and he's good to go.

  • Will you be doing clomid or injects? I would suggest injects honestly, they have slightly higher success rate than clomid.  I went on the 2nd day of my period for ultrasound to check for cysts and then started injections, went for blood draw and ultrasound every other day (they measure follicles, etc) and then on 9th day (I injected 9 days in stomach), I was told to inject the 'trigger' shot at night and next day had IUI (did 2 actually, consecutive days). The IUI procedure felt like a pap smear, my husband provided the sample 1hr prior to procedure in the clinic and they washed it, the nurse told us the post-wash numbers. After the IUI, was told to lay there for 15 mins. I was given progesterone suppositories to insert through the 2WW, I started my period early (before the beta) so I kinda knew I wasn't pregnant, took blood test anyways to confirm, was told to start the 2nd IUI process or to take a break. Most Drs recommend 3 IUI before moving on to IVF. My Dr said there's most success during the first 2 IUIs, hope this info helps, good luck.

    Me: 32, DH: 34.
Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
    2 IUIs = BFN.
    1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.

    14dp5dt-June 27 -BFP, beta 2061. 2nd beta >5000, 3rd beta >5000, 2 sacs 06/30.
Twin Girls - 02/11/15 - at 37 weeks (no NICU, home with me at 3 days).

How expensive are injectibles, typically? Thanks!
