Number of follicles at IVF baseline?

I received a voicemail yesterday saying all was well with baseline u/s and bloodwork, and we are good to start stims tonight for IVF#1.  No other details were left in the message, so I emailed the nurse asking about my numbers.  She wrote me back this morning saying I had 8 antral follicles.  Is this low?  On other baselines I've had (not medicated), I've always had over 12, and googling makes me think 8 is on the low side.  Should I be concerned at all?  Or am I already just worrying for nothing?

If it matters, E2 was 21.1 and FSH was 5.79 (FSH has been as high as 10 before).

It will probably vary from cycle to cycle.  I believe that's what I was told.  Mine went from 13 down to 10 between cycles, but they were about 15 months apart.

Just remember that what you start out with doesn't indicate how many you'll have at the end.  I think it depends on your protocol just as much as what you start out with. I had far more follicles and eggs with an AFC of 10 than I did with 13 (slightly different protocol each time).  Hope that helps!
