Protein shakes

During pregnancy. Powder or ready made. Are there any that are good or safe?

Re: Protein shakes

  • Just in case you don't get much of a response (I don't do shakes, so I can't answer the actual question)...I think if scroll down to the bottom or back a page, there was a thread regarding this particular topic.

  • I use Whole Foods Vanilla Whey powder in smoothies from time to time.  It's sweetened with Stevia.  I asked my doctor about artificial sweeteners and he said they were fine in moderation.  I used to drink a protein smoothie  6 days a week after my workouts but now I probably drink them 2-3 times a week when I don't feel like "eating".  I try to stick to more "natural" forms of protein (e.g. eggs, chicken, etc.) now that I'm pregnant but sometimes I just have to have a smoothie.

Although I think you should be fine, I would check with your OB.
