Anyone ever had strep throat??

I don't know what's going on with me, but this seems like more than just a typical sore throat.

No fever, but I am having a hard time swallowing and my throat is REALLY sore. My glands also feel swollen in my neck and my neck is a bit stiff. Some congestion, but not much, and I am coughing.

I've also had a headache off and on the past couple days.

I've had a sore throat like this for three days and it's not getting better.

  • I've had it many many times.  Sounds like you might have it.  Do you have any white bumps in the back of your throat that you can see?

I'd make a doc appt so they can do a culture to tell.

  • any white patches on the back of the throat?  that's usualy how strep looks.  I've had it a million times.  usually there is a fever though, achy joints, no apetite.

  • When I've had strep before, I couldn't swallow because my throat was so sore.  I also hurt all over and had a high fever.

  • It certainly sounds like it, but I really hope it's not! Definitely call the doc.

  • is your pulse elevated as well - i was told that was a sign of a strep infection (when I went and it was like 140)...

  • every year of my life from teh age of 5-20.

White puss pockets were my tell/tell sign and not eating.  I never got a fever with them.  My mom would always be "surprised" I had strep.

Go to a doctor!!!  Its nothing to mess with...especially while pregnant and with Nora!  it can be bad for kids to get.

  • Stupid question: how do you see the white patches if they're on the back of your throat? Just open your mouth up big and wide and look in a mirror??

  • just open your mouth wide and look.  you can't miss it.

  • get a flashlight...it will be hard to angle your head right so the bathroom lights light up your throat AND see into the mirror.  If you want tos ee them yourself, get a flashlight.  If your DH doesn't mind looking, he probably can see without a flashlight.
