Hello all,
My husband and I have been TTC for 16 months now and are moving onto IUI this month. I went in on Tuesday for bloodwork and an ultrasound and the doctor prescribed 5 days of. I am scheduled to go back in next Thursday for more bloodwork and another ultrasound. The nurse said that if everything looked right, they'd have me trigger that night and we'd go back in Saturday morning for the actual procedure. I guess my first question is what did she mean by "looks right"? I've seen other posters discuss folie size and lining size, are there any other factors they'll be looking at? And what are the numbers supposed to be? What is "right"? I just want to make sure I know what's going on with my body and I don't want to keep calling the RE to ask.
Also, what happens after the procedure? Do we just wait until AF shows up or is it normal to be monitored throughout the 2ww?
Thanks for any input!
Re: First IUI - Questions
PAIF popping in -
When I had IUI's I didn't have testing or monitoring in the 2WW. I waited until 14dpIUI and then POAS. If it was negative, then I discontinued taking the Progesterone supps I was on. Then it was just waiting on AF to start for the next round.
I always liked to be informed so I always wanted to know everything - follie size, e2 levels, sperm count, etc etc. Most of this they tell you anyway, but if there's anything extra I've always asked. They're totally used to being peppered with questions all the time so don't sweat it.
Good luck.
All of this, Katy J gave you great info....except that if she meant if your lining is too thin they will give you estrogen (usually a blue pill called estrace). THEN when you get the 7dpo P4 test (that tests progesterone) if that is low you will likely be given a progesterone supplement, (commonly it is prometrium...some people take this orally, some vaginally. If you have a history of low P4 then it might be given to start taking it at 3dpo before they even test you).
