Baby Names

New Baby

I woman I went to HS with had her first baby yesterday. It is a girl

La.elle

I had never heard it before but my friend told me she had. The woman's name is Sche.kina and she has a sister Hada.ssah so there are no lack of unusual names in that family.

Have you heard of La.elle before?

Re: New Baby

  • Never heard it before, but it's definitely NMS.  However, it's not the strangest name I've heard before.

  • Here (in my french speaking province) it is pronounced kind of like Lie-yell but the y connects the two so it's fluid... lol does that make sense?

Lael is an Old Testement name as is Hadassah (it's Queen Esther's hebrew name)
This. And Shekinah is referred to as the resting place of God. I guess the family is quite religious. But it's not the same as the trendy and made up names. ETA: i need to go back to sleep. I got this and the "sign of the times" post confused. You weren't saying it was a trendy made up name, sorry!

  • Wait -- does she actually spell those names with a period in the middle, or is that your addition to show pronunciation?

She gets a pass on Laelle -- as stated before, it's a biblical name -- but La.elle is weird.

The periods are there for Googling purposes.

They're all Hebrew.  But I'm Protestant and love Hadassah.  I've known a little girl (guess she'd be an adult now) named Shekinah.  There is a Christian pop band named Shekinah.  Lael was a man in the Bible.  I wouldn't judge an ethnicity or religion from these names but I'd guess they'd take their religion seriously since they're all in one family.
