Hi,
I'm not a mother, but I am the proud son of a single mother and wanted to invite the community to give me their opinion on a children's book I released in 2012 titled "Boys Without Daddies." The book is an illustrated poem, the text of which is available here:
https://fore.tumblr.com/post/18191439742/boys-without-daddies-learn-a-lot-on-their-own
And the book itself is available on Amazon.com:

I wanted to know:
- Does the message resonate with you at all?
- Is this something you would share with your child/children?
- At what age would you want a child to read the poem or expect them to understand the content?
Any insights or help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mutaurwa
Re: I wrote a book called "Boys Without Daddies"
my opinion-
it doesnt make sense, flow, or have a point.
the end is nice as a sentiment towards the mom but still i didnt enjoy or understand the poem
My honset opinion this poem is a whiny victim state of mind. I would never share it with my son.
My son is 13. It's sad and negative. I'm sorry if you feel that's how you grew up but that not inspirational at all. Your poem seems to think that all single moms allow their sons to have no positive male influences, or can't teach them to be men.
That is so horribly untrue. Even in intact families, the MOM is the one who potty trains and teaches the son to stand while peeing. The MOM buys the clothes, deoderant, shaving needs, teaches them how to treat and respect women. MOM runs cub scouts, and in many cases is the most involved in boy scouts, and other sports/activities.
Your Mom and you poem should have stated how a boy without a father has a stronger mother who taught you to be a better man.
One who respects, empathizes, and knows how to be an equal partner in any relationship because he watched his mom do it alone and was old enough shared in the household duties to help his mom. How you learned to be more self confident and self sufficient because your MOM earned a living and you had to help with the slack and the running of a household.
Single moms can be amazing parents who provide stable homes for their children. I'm sorry this didnt happen for you.
