I am almost 10 weeks and have actually lost weight, but I know this will change soon, How much weight is expected, I am tall and with in normal/ on the lower end weight proportion 5'11 and 135. What is a healthy weight gain?
Blessed with double the love. C and J born May 2013
I was on the higher end of underweight pre-pregnancy and gained 38lbs when I delivered at 34 weeks. I think rule of thumb is 24 lbs by 24 weeks if you are "normal." I would not stress numbers though unless your OB is concerned.
I go up and down by a few pounds a day, but today i was 29 lbs up from my pre-pregnancy weight and I am at 23w 4d. I was hoping not to gain much more since I was overweight to begin with, but I don't see that as being possible.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
Every body is different, but, starting at 5'9" and about 125 I gained 50 lbs and delivered at 35 1/2 wks. After the first 30 lbs I hated seeing the numbers creep up, but they are just numbers, and it turned out that's what I apparently needed to gain to get two big healthy LOs. Ditto yinyang; if your OB isn't concerned I wouldn't be either. All the "rules" go out the window when you have multiples.
I was 130lbs, 5'6" pre-pregnancy, and was up around 30ish lbs when I delivered at 29.5 weeks (I wasn't weighed for 10 days prior to delivery, which is why I'm not completely sure -- since I spent most of that time in the hospital and not in a regular Dr. office. ) I was up right around 24lbs by 24 weeks, as well.
FWIW, I was within 9-10 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight after 4 weeks or so. I've sort of stalled out there -- while I'm pumping nearly 50oz/day (1000 cal/day burned!), I'm certainly eating more to help account for that, and I may just be one of those people who hangs on to those last pounds while BF. That, and I haven't gotten back into an exercise routine, since I've been living at the NICU. Time will tell!
TTC Since 11/10 due to Unexplained IF
4 Rounds of Clomid, 2 Rounds of Femara + IUI, 2 rounds of IUI+ Injectables (Bravelle + Menopur) = First BFP! TWIN GIRLS!
November 2, 2012 - Claire (2lbs 8.9oz) and Paige (2lbs 10oz) arrive at 29w3d due to PTL and pPROM at 28w5d
I barely gained 20 lbs by 24 weeks. I gained 50 total. I lost all 50 by 6 weeks post partum. I seriously gained about 20 lbs of fluid in the last 2 months from pre-eclampsia. Looking back I looked awesome until about 32-33 weeks when I really starting swelling.
Even though I gained the recommended weight my babies were little. 2005 and 2010 grams at 36 weeks (that's 4 lbs 10 oz each).
I started out 15 lbs overweight, but I've only gained 10 lbs at this point (21 W if you're on mobile). At my A/S yesterday babies were 1 lb even for one and 14 oz for the other. While those are fine weights, MFM and OB did tell me to work on increasing my fat and protein to increase babies weights. They encouraged me not to stress, but to do what I can to gain healthily. I've increased my milk from skim to 2%, and I drink 2 - 3 Boost a day. The Boost kind of makes me gag, so I'm going to try and feel out some other protein drinks.

It really varies as far as I can tell. I was at a normal weight before getting pregnant and only gained 27 pounds total before delivering at 36w6d. My weight was all in my belly and I had 13lbs of baby. I lost those 27 pounds plus an additional 10 within two weeks (thanks in part to nursing I'm sure). I'm now almost 20lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight. When I found out I was expecting twins I fully expected to gain at least 50 pounds and have a hard time getting it off but somehow it didn't happen like that. I would suggest that you just be sure you're eating enough calories and as long as your doctor is happy with your weight gain enjoy this lovely time in your life. Congrats!

I was underweight to begin with. I am 5'3" and weighed right about 105lbs. I am 34 weeks today and have gained about 56lbs. Most of this is water weight gained in the last few weeks. I am not sure how much I will gain total as I could deliver any day now but I am hoping to keep it under or at 60lbs total. My OB has not been concerned at all regarding my gain so I just go with what he says.
I would say as long as your babies are growing on track and doing well, plus your OB isn't concerned not to worry about it too much!
