Trying to visualize how to manage logisitcs of 2U2 like: cooking DS lunch, putting DD down for a nap, changing DS's diaper...
I don't have a Moby, just an Ergo so it will be a little while before I can wear DD. We already have an RNP but I was planning on leaving it upstairs. Should I get a swing or use the PNP we have for downstairs when I need to put DD down?
Also, what do you do with your oldest when putting the baby down for a nap? DS goes down in seconds, but I remember it might take a good 20 min to put down a newborn. Suggestions? Thanks!
Re: Do I need a swing? Already have an RNP.
Our swing was vital for our 1st 5 months. DS took every single nap in that swing because he had severe reflux. He lived in his swing, without it we would have been lost.
As for what I do with my oldest when I put my baby down for a nap, she was always very good about waiting her turn, and still is. Up until about 6 months old my DS just napped in his swing, so I would just leave him in the swing while I put my o,rest down for a nap. Now I put my youngest down for a nap 1st while my oldest watches a show on TV. She is very good about staying downstairs, quietly playing and watching a show. It takes 5-10 minutes to put him down. Then I put my oldest down. It works really well.
I guess it depends on your LO. We had a RNP and a swing when DD1 was born. She loved the swing, but hated the RNP.
When DD2 was born, I tried to put her in the swing, but she didn't like it very much. The RNP or bouncy chair became my go-to when I had to put her down and attend to DD1.
In terms of nap time, DD1 would lay in our bed with her blankies and watch tv, while I put DD2 down for a nap. Around 2 months, DD2 decided that she would only nap on me, so that wasn't the best scenario, as DD1 would have to occupy herself while the other one napped.
I would get a swing and keep it downstairs. I used it a lot with both my kids. When DS was little he mostly napped in the swing, carseat, or stroller out on the go. But if I needed to put him down at bedtime and DH wasn't home, I'd either have DD read books with me while I fed DS, or I'd let her watch Caillou.
I sometimes used a Baby Ktan (similar to Moby) and used the Ergo when he got bigger. They also sell an infant insert for the Ergo.
