Toddlers: 24 Months+

Update to DD sleeping in her own bed.

I posted yesterday asking for advice about my 2 year old staying in her own bed all throughout the night and not coming in to our room.

We co-slept for about a year, but then she did a great job in her new big girl bed and loved it. She recently fell back on it and started coming into our room at 2 am and would be inconsolable if we put her back to bed. My husband's new job requires him to get up at 4am, so we'd rather her sleep not be further interrupted.

Here's what we did- made her a sticker chart/reward chart. For every 5 stars (must stay in her room all night) she gets a treat of some sort. Last night after going through it all, she slept the entire night in her room and was SO proud of herself, and very excited to get a sticker!

Thank you all for your feedback- hopefully this continues!

Re: Update to DD sleeping in her own bed.

  • That is great news.

Not sure if you've thought about putting a gate at her door to keep her in. We've been doing that since DD started sleeping in her toddler bed and we recommend it to others who have kids that wont stay in their room at night.
