I mean how many hours-or days a week?
What kind of work - sitting, standing, walking, carrying stuff?
I've recently cut my shifts from 5-10hr shifts on my feet waaaay down to 4 shifts and only one of them 10 hours-the rest more like 6. Am I being a wimp?
If I liked my job more, I'd try to work there until the day I go to L&D. But I hate my boss and want him out of my life as soon as possible. Thinking about being done with the job totally Feb 1, though I know we can't afford it.
For those of you at home already, and those of you who LIKE your jobs and wish to stay there, I envy you!
Re: How much are you working right now?
Just started maternity leave today.
I'm a second grade teacher so up until yesterday I was working 7:45-3:45 on my feet practically all day.
I'm still working full-time, but it's a desk job. I have a box under my desk that I put my feet up on all day, and I rarely have to get up.
That said, I'm so ready to be done. I can't focus on anything (my mind is all over the place) and everything is taking me exponentially longer than it did in the past because I can't focus.
I'm still working my normal hours, roughly 8-9 hour days M-F. I do work from home 3 days a week which is wonderful, going into the office (and wearing uncomfortable maternity work clothes) is exhausting though. I work a desk job, but my office is HUGE so even if I only go from my car to my desk (and the bathroom a million times) then back to my car it is a long walk, in heels!
I plan on working up until I go into labor, and I think I will work from home full time those last few weeks if my manager approves it. I am definitely lucky to not be on my feet all day!
I'm still working full time. For me that's 6:30a-5p Mon-Fri.
ETA: I do DC so it's a lot of lifting small children, making meals, playing, cleaning, etc.

It varies, I'm working anywhere from 44 - 52 hours/week, 5 or 6 days/week (two jobs - one's a FT, 40 hr/week job, one's a part-time job at a library, where I work 4-12 hours a week).
Both jobs are mostly desk jobs, so I'm usually sitting in front of a computer, but both periodically require me to get up, walk around and do some light lifting. Nothing unbearable, but lately the chair at the reference desk at the library has been a bit uncomfortable for me, so I sort of welcome the opportunities to get up and help a patron find a book or something. ;-)
I work from home, but I am sitting at my computer grading term papers for hours at a time. This week alone, I have 62 Philosophy papers to grade and I only have three days to do it in. Yesterday I spent about 14 hours sitting at my computer, grading papers. My back is KILLING ME!
In addition to this, on the weeks when I don't have papers to grade, I work as a freelance editor for an online book publishing company, so yeah... still at my computer for many hours a day.
I'm still working 8-9 hours a day but I sit at a desk so it's not anything physical, but I work in customer service so it's very stressful most of the time. :S I can't wait to get out of here for 6 weeks! But I'm working up until I go into labor. blah.
I have 2 day shifts left before I'm done. They're 12 hours. I just finished my nights.
It depends on the day what I do most. Sit, stand, run, walk, tug, pull, lift, stab. Little of everything.
Technically I have a desk job, because I'm an attorney. But in reality, I'm on my feet a lot. I'm getting files, putting them away, running to court carrying files, standing in court, etc. I'm working more now than I did during the rest of this pregnancy. That's just because of the way judges have scheduled things. I'm in the office or court about 10-12 hours a day 6 days a week.
I loved my job. But all of this is making me hate it. I feel like almost everyone I come into contact with is stupid. No one has any concern for the fact that I'm completely exhausted. Thank goodness I only have 7 weeks left. I don't think I can make it more than that without flipping out on someone.
I am still working 5 8 hour days a week. I work in a hospital lab mainly setting up cultures for microbiology, so it basically a lot of standing in front of a bio hazard hood streaking agar plates. I do sit as much as I can, doing computer work and during down time. Every 3 weeks I have 2 shifts that I'll have to go up to patients rooms and draw blood, those shifts are getting really hard, it is a lot of walking and bending over.

No, you don't sound like a wimp. I teach first grade, so I work from 7-4. I'm on my feet all day except for about an hour of plan time and 20 minutes of reading aloud. I crash when those kids go to specials classes!
I'm sooo ready for maternity leave. I could really use a mid-day nap! Of course, at home there's just another kid to take care of!
I've recently cut my hours back from 9 hour days to 8 hours. The extra hour off each day right now is a huge help. I work mainly at a desk but I do get up frequently to wait on customers and what not. However even sitting at a desk is painful for me on my back and it keeps getting worse. I am trying my best to stay until she is born, however we will see how the next few weeks go. I'm in the same position- need the money however don't want to jeopordize my health of the health of the baby. So we shall see what the next few weeks bring. My replacement also does arrive till I'm 38 weeks (the company I work for is small and I'm the first one in the history of this company to have a baby and the company is run by men and I'm going to stop there since I have a lot of issues and if I didn't need the insurance I"d say goodbye right now)
Anyways I don't think you are a wimp. Growing a human being is hard work! Good luck
and take care of yourself and your baby.
