Feeling guilty

I love sleeping on my right side. Is it really that bad if I am not experiancing dizziness or anything? I woke up last night at 2 and 330 with an intense guilty feeling when i noticed i was on my right side again. I try my left side constantly by my sciatica is starting to act up on that side and its so annoying!

Re: Feeling guilty

  • Your body will naturally move when it needs to. Don't feel guilty, I just told someone the other day in a similar post that with twins I'm already measuring almost full term and still partially sleeping on my stomach. Doctor is not concerned in the least bit.

  • No need to feel guilty. I find myself sleeping on my back all the time, partially on my stomach, and on my right side as well.

  • I sleep on my right side all night every night. It's the only position that I can sleep in. In the morning when I wake up and hit snooze for 45+ minutes I usually sleep partially on my back sort of leaning on my snoogle with the hook part under my knees rather than between them.

I've noticed that laying on my back on the couch is bad though. Your body will let you know. I get shortness of breath and a tight feeling in my chest that goes away once I move.

I hope that makes you feel better. FWIW - I don't even try to sleep on my left side anymore.

  • I figure as long as you're comfortable, don't sweat it. I feel really comfortable inclined on my back, except it's my back that hurts if I stay that way too long!

  • If it wasn't safe, your body would tell you (ie, you'd get dizzy or tingly), so don't worry about it.  I still amazingly find myself waking up partially on my belly some days.  I have no idea how I can sleep like that!!  Get your rest in any position that is comfortable and lets you sleep right now.

  • I still wake up on my bam constantly throughout that night. That's probably something to feel guilty about : but like others said, I'm hoping that my body will stop that once it would become harmful.
