cosleeping/night time feeding problems

Help!!! My daughter is 6 months. I cosleep with her. She is EBF. My problem is that she will not fall alsleep with out having a boob in her mouth. She wakes up ALL night for feedings. I wouldnt mind if it was justa couple of times a night but I am not getting any sleep. I have 2 other children to look after during the day and I am exhausted. Any advice on how ti get her to sleep longer?

Re: cosleeping/night time feeding problems

  • I am going through the same problem. DD is 5 months and has been cosleeping with us from the beginning. She also is EBF and needs boob to fall asleep. Recently she has been waking up constantly for feedings but its just to get back on boob and back to sleep.  I am thinking that the reason she was waking so many times was because she hears and feels us move around and smells me. I have tried not giving it to her but she will pull at me and grab and fuss until she gets what she wants. 2 nights ago we decided to try her out of our bed and into her crib but the transistioning has not been easy. I am so exhausted... any advice would be great.
  • It isn't an uncommon problem with co-sleeping BF babies. I was dealing with the same thing and finally we decided at six months to move him to his crib. Before that, while we were still bedsharing, I started trying techniques from the No Cry Sleep Solution book to break the nursing to sleep association. I think that helped a bit to do before we moved him to his crib. You might try it and see if it helps. It is basically unlatching them as soon as they stop drinking and before they fall back deeply asleep so they know they are falling asleep without the boob.

  • I will try try that! Thank you! This is my third BF baby....you would think that I would have it all figured out, but each one is so different!
  • So we are trying the unlatching first but still not working. I will keep trying..
    I am so tired!!!!!!
It is nice to hear that I am not alone in this battle!
