Ok, I am not one to believe these gender predictor tests but I am thinking about doing this because I am very anxious to find out the gender and see if it tests out right. One of my friends SWEARS by the ring test. However, when I look it up online, some say that if it swings in circles it is a boy and some say girl. What is correct? Anyone ever do this before and get accurate results? Anyone else STILL waiting to determine gender? My ultrasound is the 17th and cannot wait!!
Re: Ring test for gender??
I've heard that if the ring swings in a circle, it's a girl. So it's 50/50 either way (unless it's a hermaphrodite, or male and female multiples).
But yes we're waiting until the baby's birth to determine it's sex.
BTW, future MIL did this with all three of her kids and it was right every time. But she could have been super lucky.
It's an OWT. No science to it. There is no magnetism in your uterus or baby that will make a ring swing around one way or the other.
And yes, we won't find out sex for over three weeks. I know from previous posts that some people won't find out until mid to late February. Hang in there!
Okay, so I'm obviously a nonbeliever as you can see above, and I decided to test this on myself, H, and DD and was all ready to come back and be like, "this is crap" lol. But I just did it and it circled over my palm and DD's palm, and swung back and forth over H's palm and my bump. I don't know what I'm having, but I have to say, I was amazed that the palm thing worked as you predicted. What is even more weird is that when I did the ring test at 9 or 10w, it swung in a circle. But if there really is something to male/female making it swing one way or the other, it was probably because my ute was still low and it picked up my female vibies. I sound like a loon.
My H did it, though, and the ring did nothing. Didn't move at all, just hung there like a rock. He's bragging now about how he should be a surgeon and my hands are unsteady and I made it move on purpose. Whatever. ;]
When SO's mom told me about it the first time, I just laughed and said there is no way. But of course she, her husband, SO, SO's brother, and I all did it over our hands and it worked. We even decided to have fun with it and try it on pets, which ended up working too.
SO's mom did home births and had no ultrasounds before the babies were born. She tried the ring test around 20 weeks, with circle being girl, and it was correct with all three. But as I said earlier, could have just been luck.
Edit...Shoot, sorry I miss read. I will get back to you, however, once we find out what this LO is at an ultrasound. Especially if it changes after we know for sure.
Okay...the test I learned (in college) is different from the palm and uterus test that most people do. I never those ones with DD, so I don't how accurate... however, for the one that I know which is holding is over the wrist of the opposite hand that you write with (on both males and females), it goes side to side across the wrist for girls and up and down the arm for boys. The circling in between is just the moving onto the next kid. It shows not only current gestating child, but previous child and future children. With both DH and I it used to show only 1 girl. We were Team Green with DD. Now that we are expecting again it shows 1 girl and 1 boy... on both of us. We are Team Green again, so we'll have to wait until June to see if it is correct. I have seen it correctly show up to 5 kids before people even had kids. I have been seeing people do this for like 15 years and I think only once seen it be wrong. It is an OWT, though.I just think it's fun!
I just held a necklace over my uterus. It circled and then went in a straight line and then stopped.
I just held it over my hand. It circles, goes back and forth, then repeats... I'm pretty sure I'm just a girl. I'll have to try dh when he gets back from putting dd to bed.
