I feel my 2 month old baby sleeps well with me about half the time, but he moves around soooo much. is this normal? I used to swaddle him (in a swaddle-me) while he was in bed with me because he seemed to be more content but he would get overheated. So I stopped doing that, but oh my gosh, between his legs and arms something is always moving. I feel like he is not in a deep sleep. Is this Normal? or should I keep swaddling? Tips for co-sleeping and getting through the night?
He also wakes up in the middle of the night (3 am - 5 am) usually fussy and crying. I try to feed him but he doesnt want to eat. I think it is gas because he will get out a few good farts and then be better. What do you moms think of cutting out dairy to help with gas? My mom says that we were never this gassy and that it must be something I am eating that is upsetting him. I am willing to try if it will help him not be so gassy!
Re: Cosleeping - questions from FTM
Ds is over 4 months and we don't have the gassy night wakings anymore. He's learned to fart in his sleep now. ;]
Eta: over time I've learned to sleep through all the kicking and hitting in the MOTN.
I had to go dairy free but not super strict dairy free. I never eliminated hidden dairy. LO never had really bad diarrhea or blood in her stool. I just noticed she was REALLY gassy and heard her whimper until she tooted sometimes and some light diarrhea so I gave up dairy for two weeks and she had way less gas, was less fussy, and she had better poop.
I tried to introduce dairy back into my diet around 6 months and 9 months and each times she got diarrhea and gas. So that confirmed it for me.
I'm still BF and now my LO can drink lactose free milk and I can eat one dairy serving a day and she is fine.
I think LO was sensitive to milk protein as a baby and now she is just lactose intolerant.
It is just trial and error to see if it helps but you have to give it up for 2 weeks because that's how long it takes to get the milk protein out of your system.
